ODESA INVESTMENT CONGRESS 2026

Is it possible to maintain UNESCO status whilst not hindering the city’s development? And how are approaches to urban planning in Ukraine changing as the country rebuilds in the midst of war?

These questions were among the central themes of the Odesa Investment Congress 2026, which took place on 10 July in Odesa, at the Spatium Medical & Wellness Hotel in Arkadia. The event was organised by the DMNTR media group and SPATIUM Group, and participants included over 60 speakers: representatives from relevant ministries, city officials, property developers, architects and urban planners from across the country.

Nata Golovchenko, founder of NG Architects, architect and urban planner, took part in the congress as a speaker and moderator of two panel discussions: ‘Odesa in the context of UNESCO: heritage preservation and contemporary development’ and ‘The architecture of the new Ukraine: how approaches to urban planning are changing’. In the first discussion, she posed a direct question to the audience: is UNESCO status a death sentence for Odessa’s historic centre, or an opportunity for the city to reach a new level of development? In the second, she discussed with the other speakers which principles of planning and urban development are becoming decisive for Ukraine today and in the post-war period.
