Memorial to the Fighters for Ukraine

The process of developing this project began not so long before the full-scale invasion shooking everything in Ukraine. Back then, in 2020 and 2021, this memorial, which we, NG Architects, co-authored with sculptor Mykhailo Reva, was called the ATO Soldiers Memorial. However, we didn't even know how quickly the world could change, and the concept of the memorial along with it.
Our job is to make the world around us a better place. And we always stick to this credo. After all, this is what we are working for.
However, architecture and development are impossible when someone is constantly destroying in minutes what had been built for years and could have been pleasing to the eye over the decades. It is impossible to create something when missiles are flying overhead, destroying your city. It is impossible to think about beauty when you have to hide in a bomb shelter with your children.
This text we, and I, as Nata Golovchenko, would like to use this test as an opportunity to thank those who protect us and give us hope for the future - the Armed Forces of Ukraine. For their courage. For their resilience. For the opportunity to live in peace, given at great cost. For understanding the value of life and history.
May this memorial remind us of the value of every moment of life and how we must be resilient and strong in this life. May it serve as a reminder to all of us why we are here. And to whom we owe it.
Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the heroes!
